Discover Calm Through Creativity: Stitch Meditation Workshop with Anne Warburton

Room and Parking information will be sent by email 1-2 days prior to the lecture date.

Overview

In our fast-paced world, take a moment to pause, breathe, and reconnect. Stitch Meditation is an artful practice that combines creativity with mindfulness, offering a pathway to wellness and self-care, as you immerse yourself in the rhythmic act of stitching.  Focus on the textures, colours, and simple stitches as you create something uniquely yours. Learn simple stitching techniques and explore how fabric and thread can help you centre your thoughts and be present. Each participant will leave with their own stitched creation—a tangible reminder of the beauty of slowing down. Whether you are an experienced maker or just beginning, this practice is for anyone looking to find peace through creativity.

About the Lecturer

Anne Warburton creates dynamic fibre art from repurposed materials and is fascinated about how creativity helps our own personal journeys. Lockdowns during Covid-19 led her to learning new ways to repair clothing and textiles through stitch, paint, and other methods, while keeping these items out of landfill, and experiencing the added benefits of how such practices are good for our well being and mental health. Anne is trained in the expressive arts therapies and learning facilitation, and spent her career in event management. She is currently working on certification as a Holistic Integrated Creative Arts Therapist.
