Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA) Basics
GPA Basics is an interactive, evidence-based, person-centred education program. It prepares nursing students to support people living with dementia and respond safely and compassionately to responsive behaviours.
Complete GPA Basics training before the start of Clinical II (NURS 1201).
What the training covers
The training provides practical knowledge and strategies for caring for people living with dementia, including:
- Understanding dementia and responsive behaviours
- Communicating effectively
- Maintaining dignity and respect
- Promoting safety for patients and healthcare providers
